I live at Durham Christian Homes at 100 Glen Hill Dr. #307 in Whitby On

This is a seniors building and the majority of Residents are on fixed incomes

Durham Christian Homes had Stratcon out of Woodbridge Ontario come in and set up individual hydro meters. They had a Residents meeting to try to convince Residents to sign up for individual meters. As you can imagine people were and continue to be hesitant to sign up, what with the admin and carrying costs. Stratcon was not prepared to answer how their added costs would increase. So not only did they want us to pay our own hydro plus all the continued added costs from Stratcon.

In my situation they offered on a two bedroom a reduction in rent of $70.00 a month but I am aware of a couple then ended up paying Stratcon $188.00 and theirs was on a one bedroom while mine is a two bedroom.


Several Residents have asked me to find out if we have to join this program with Stratcon? It will cost us a lot more than our limited funds will allow. Also, again, pay for the utility and pay for the extra charges for the outside source.

Your help to us Seniors would be greatly appreciated. Please don't loose site of our concerns. The economy is so bad, why add another component on top of us.
