Subject: Rate increase 2010 - -EB-2009-0096
Dear Sirs,
I am totally against the proposed rate increase that Hydro One Networks have applied for.
That an application is being made for a 9.5% increase in 2010 and a further 13.3% in 2011 is unconscionable and
should be denied. At a time of financial crisis in Canada and indeed the whole world, where is the
justification for these increases coming from. Oil and gas prices have come down in the past twelve months,
which have resulted in reduced pricing of all related products. If anything, the OEB should be forcing Hydro One
to reduce its charges across the board and without reservation. In addition, with workers all across the country being forced out of work by the current state of the economy, or being made to take salary and benefit cuts,
why can the OEB not force Hydro One to do the same and reduce their costs?
I urge the OEB to intervene on behalf of the public, who are constantly being hit by these rate increases
under the pretense of "increased costs" and "circumstances beyond our control" and similar excuses. Please
use the powers given to you, and for once, work for the taxpaying public and not commercial interests in general.
Yours truly,
Noel Pinto
