Dear Members of the Hydro One Board of Directors, September 29, 2009
We live in a remote area of Northwestern Ontario. Most of the area is comprised of retired folks with a limited income or young families, also on a budget. We are approaching retirement age and are trying to budget responsibly for our future. We are already faced with Municipal taxes which are sky-high. We are also very concerned about the increasing hydro rates. With so many subsidies for other remote areas, we are very surprised that Hydro One cannot tap into some sort of grant to assist its consumers with the high energy costs. Hydro rates will double by 2011. This is totally unacceptable at any time, especially due the state of our present economy. We are trying to cut back our Hydro costs: by not using the dryer, washing in cold water, turning off the tap, turning on lights only when extremely necessary, running full loads of dishes and when washing clothes, etc. Unfortunately, these steps have not helped to drive our energy costs down. We would like you, the Board of Directors, to bring the concerns of the residents of Northwestern Ontario to the table and come up with a viable solution to our plight.
Sincerely,
Dawn and Eric Flickinger
