HYDRO ONE NETWORKS INC. APPLICATION FOR LEAVE TO CONSTRUCT
TORONTO MIDTOWN TRANSMISSION REINFORCEMENT
I write in strong support of HydroOne's Transmission Reinforcement proposal as far as it would touch on my own Summerhill neighbourhood,
namely the construction of a deep rock tunnel between Bayview Junction and Birch Junction
and the installation therein of two 115 kV underground cables, replacing one existing underground cable.
Siting the new cable(s) in the transmission cable's existing bed - along the Shaftesbury Avenue road allowance - would have meant destruction of all street trees on Shaftesbury. Given the difficult growing conditions next to the railway tracks, the destruction of this greenspace would have taken decades to heal.
Residents on Shaftesbury Avenue were relieved to see the proposal of a deep rock tunnel.
I would like to add my support to theirs.
Sincerely,
Tara Hanson
116 Shaftesbury Ave.
