Dear Sir,
First of all let me tell you that you are trying to get this done through back door. You put an ad in the local newspaper which no one can able to read because the print was so small that readers have to use a magnifying glass to read it. Gas company and your board can afford a little bigger print so that cosumer can atleast read and understand this. Probably you guys dont want anyone read and put objection to it. I kept a copy of the ad for teference.
Now come to the point of my objection to this.
1) Union Gas collect 19 dollar fro each customer every month as a monthly fee . This amount to more than 57 Million dollar each month from their more than 3 Million accounts in southern Ontario. When I objeted to this the Ontario Energy Board and Union Gas told me that they need this money to give an uninturrupted and safe supply of natural gas at my place every day.
2) Union Gas charge from me for gas delivery to them, storage , and delivery to my house also. Since they are charging all three types of charges from me why they have to collect such a high amount of money as a monthly charge. This monthly fee has changed three times in the last two years and when I asked Union gas spokes man tol me that is going up again. Also that person told me that they dont charge for meter reading. And they justify this amount telling me that it is approved by the Energy Board. I see a conflict of interest here between gas company and Energy board.
3) twice in the past I wrote to the OEB but theit letter tells me that gas is a precious commodity as such gas company is justifyed in the charge. 57 Million dollar is a lots of money from the poor consumer. I honestly think that this must be afew dollars and other charger are to be absolved by the company as in any other business.
4) I tried to switch my account with another supplier, but found out I still have to pay same amount of monthly charge to Union GAs irrespective of whom I am buying the gas from. This is not fair and I dont know how the energy board agree with this.
Consumers need a satisfying answer to these points. Unless and untill we get this from the company and Energy board, I object to this application.
