Subject: Price Increase
Hi. I just could not resist sending in my comment upon receiving my monthly bill.
If Hydro One is asking the OEB for an increase in rates, as my last bill has indicated, I could only assume that they have done everything possible within the company to become cost effective. However I see Hydro One employees driving company trucks home at night, and using them for their own personal use. They also have no respect for the environment, as they leave them idling, not just in the winter, but in the summer as well. I do understand that there are times when employees need to take a company vehicle home for work related issues, and cost's increase over time, but when Hydro One continues to spend customers money foolishly like this, it makes it hard to see where these increases are warranted. I do know that most companies over the past decade have stopped letting employees drive company vehicles home, have no idling policies in place and have saved a bundle, not only on fuel, but also wear and tear on these vehicles. When you have done all that you can to reduce costs and still need that increase, like any other company, it will be an easier pill for your customers to swallow. I would hope that the OEB as any other government office, would make sure the Hydro One has done everything possible to keep their costs in line, rather than just always ask for more money
This is only my observation, but something someone should consider before asking for an increase and driving more people from their homes.
