One of the major reasons why Canada has a limited future in a Global economy is due too high a cost of living and doing business. As there is not one key service in the last year that has not increased their demands far beyond most ability to generate enough revenue to keep up. Allow the increase Hydro Ottawa is asking for under the present economic situation and you assure three things. The bankruptcies will be increasing and the number of jobs being lost will continue explode and the number of homeless will increase. . The increase they are asking for may not seem like much, but consider this. We have lost a lot of high paying jobs over the last year due to everyone for the last 5 years figuring out how to get more for less. . 55% of all working families are already holding down more than 3 jobs to make the ends meet and using credit cards to survive. Most small business are struggling and major manufacturing already have limited means to compete in a Global economy and will have little choice but to close down or leave if cost increase. So any increase no matter how justified it may seem. Will assure Ontario will only compound all the problems we have how.. The one thing I have noticed is that my service delivery charge is almost as much as my electricity bill. Which if I remember right at one time cover the cost of the delivery. It seems to me we are getting doubled billed for the same service. Just no one but the company would really know.



It looks like the service delivery charge is now subsidies the profit line. If Ontario is to compete in the Global economy we do not need increase in cost we need a decrease. Without losing any jobs or services and I understand the executive grow up in the world where if they got 6% profit one year they should get an increase every year by gouging the consumer. That is what got us in the trouble we are in now. I understand to well. With some very creative accounting can legally justify increasing the cost to justify their over paid salaries. As a CEO I do not mind them getting their over paid salaries has long has they can show they have the talent to cut the cost without losing any of the service. Anyone can run a organization that has money. Poor management has no idea how to survive during the bad times to help become part of the solution. Rather than remain part of the problem. Any increase in cost at this time and I would say no one wins not even the Hydro company.
